Pierre is an accomplished professional with over two decades of experience in high-level architecture, large-scale application development, and agile team management. He has a proven track record of working with prestigious Fortune 500 companies, leading the development of their research and development (R&D) projects. Pierre has collaborated with renowned organizations such as Illumina, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Invitrogen, Cardinal Health, and WebSideStory (now Adobe).
As a software architect, Pierre's expertise lies in designing and implementing complex systems. He holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering from l’Ecole Supérieure d’Informatique of Bordeaux (France), along with executive degrees in AI and Human-Computer Interaction from MIT. Additionally, he has a graduate degree in Leadership and Management from the University of California, San Diego.
Pierre's passion for education is evident through his role as an acclaimed technology instructor at the University of California, San Diego, where he has been teaching for over 15 years. He has developed and delivered more than 12 accredited classes for the Science & Technology department.
With a diverse skill set, Pierre excels as both a software architect and a full-stack developer. He possesses extensive experience in cross-platform development and cloud service architecture. Notably, Pierre has led architecture projects ranging from logistics in the largest cancer genome sequencing project to developing the first real-time web analytics visualization platform.
Pierre's interest in artificial intelligence (AI) stretches back to his Master's thesis on neural networks in 1994. Despite the challenges posed by the AI winter, he remained at the forefront of the field by participating in MIT executive programs and consulting for the biotech industry in San Diego. Pierre has contributed to critical AI projects in research labs and supported independent doctors. Given the rapidly evolving nature of AI tools, technologies, and datasets, Pierre has coined the term "AI Wrangler" to encapsulate the ongoing challenge of staying current.
An advocate for technology ethics, Pierre draws on his experiences as a pioneer in web analytics. He has witnessed the ethical implications of technology when privacy laws had yet to catch up with advancements. Pierre authored the "Technology Ethics Review Guidelines," a deontological auditing tool that helps companies assess technology ethics. His dedication to the ethical use of technology is further exemplified by his certifications in AI ethics and emerging technologies from IEE, CEET, and MIT..
Pierre's passion for education extends beyond university settings. His journey as an educator began during his military service, where he served as a technology instructor for the French Department of Defense in Bayonne. Currently, at the University of California, San Diego, Pierre serves as an advisor for the Programming Languages department in addition to his teaching responsibilities within the Science & Technology department.
